Gary-Michael Tuzinkiewicz is a New York based artist who focuses in sculpture and drawing. Currently he is pursuing his MFA in studio art from Syracuse University and received his BFA in sculpture from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2019. The work he makes is composed of a blend between raw natural materials and out of context consumer items. Minimal forms convey humankind’s false superiority and entitlement to nature while more narrative works confront social constructs that separate humans from it. Through observation of the world around him, he strives to articulate his views and concerns through object-making. His personal subject matter has evolved into themes related to the environment, socio-economic issues, Americana, and reflections of our societal operations. There is an overall comment or sense on how consuming American society can be and how it affects everyone’s presence in life with an urgency to become more aware. He expresses his views and concerns through a variety of forms that he intends his audience to find informative, humorous, and engaging. Tuzinkiewicz’s work has been exhibited in and around central/northeastern Pennsylvania and New York.
